During the last few weeks, St. John has had a rain deficit. This drought allowed parts of the Salt pond to dry. During our bird watch we walked across the caked mud and our feet ever so slightly sunk into the mud. All the mangroves were dead and bleached by the sun, the mud was a pale gray color from teh exposure also. All these factors led to a great experience that reminded us of a moonwalk.
